Samba Nova will be playing an energetic samba street dance !!!

On Sunday, April 23rd, 2006
the Ecology Action Centre’s sustainable transportation project, TRAX, is coordinating a street opening pilot event:
the
Halifax Open Streets Festival

A spectacular Gala Event presented by NSCAD University

Friday, April 7, 8pm at the Shed 21 on the Halifax Port Authority Seawall (next to Pier 21) Marginal Road, Halifax

NSCAD University’s first gala fundraising event, “OFF the WALL,” promises to be a night of non-stop excitement and inspiration. This won’t be the same old song and dance. From the pounding drums of percussionists Samba Nova to the pounding feet of flamenco dancer Maria Osende, guests will be treated to a wide range of performances by more than 15 local prominent entertainers, while tempting their taste buds with a savory selection of international foods and creative cocktails.
Off the Wall will be a party you don´t want to miss. Come celebrate creativity!

Tickets are $75, major credit cards are accepted and can be purchased by phone at 902-494-8248 or in person at the NSCAD University Alumni and Development Office, 1867 Granville St.

“The theme is creativity,” says event organizer, Susan Sheehan. “Whether that creativity is manifest through song, dance, sculpture or anything else is of little importance. NSCAD is a place that cultivates creativity in any form, and that’s what this night is about—celebrating creativity.”

Other performers at the event include local recording artist Ruth Minnikin, Carol Ritchie, ECMA nominee Dave Carmichael, blues quartet the Sidecats with Shirley Jackson, Atlantic Standard Time, Lee park´s String Quartett and a series of visual surprises.
